One unusual project at SBR is our wormery, the largest Earth worm farm in Singapore! This project is well integrated in our overall foodwaste management process and has been overwelmly successfull. Starting as a R&D project with only a handfull of Earthworms, we quicly expanded to a population which has now reached about a million individuals. The main purpuse is simple: to use earthworms to decompose our foodwaste and turn it into an organic fertilizer (the best there is) in order to cultivate our plants and vegetables.

 

The process from food harvesting to the end product fertilizer is complex and involves a range of steps that we have improved over the many years of operations, often learning from our mistakes. Our integrated vermicomposting system is unique and highly customized to the local situation here in Singapore (tropical type of climate).
